Are Highways England a Bunch of Muppets?

Well would you believe it. Highways England have gone and made themselves look like a right bunch of muppets.

The UK govt’s road network managing company, Highways England has ...

Highways England have awarded WSP – yes they who allegedly undertook a public consultation regarding the lorry park – a £1.5 million pound contract. The contract started in March and will end in Aug 2017. The contract is titled M20 Lorry Park – Commercial Assurance.

Now why do we believe they are muppets? Well, they have released Personal Information in the award letter; which is below and been in the public domain since March 23rd 2016. But before you read that, read this.

Do you know what the Peter Principle is? For those of you who do not know what this principle is we’ll explain:

The Peter principle is an observation that in an organizational hierarchy, every employee will rise or get promoted to his or her level of incompetence. The Peter Principle is based on the notion that employees will get promoted as long as they are competent, but at some point will fail to get promoted beyond a certain job because it has become too challenging for them. Employees rise to their level of incompetence and stay there. Over time, every position in the hierarchy will be filled by someone who is not competent enough to carry out his or her new duties.‘ Investopedia

Now Highways England on the contracts finder website placed a pdf at the bottom of the page, as we said, and we downloaded it from contract finder, between 8am and 9am today 2/06/16, 14 weeks and one day after it was first published online. The attachment is the award letter and has allegedly been redacted under s40 of the Freedom of Information Act as it pertains to personal information. But guess what, they have released it without that information being redacted.

So if you click the link below you’ll see the award letter in its entirety, all 7 pages of it.

Now if our names were to appear on there we’d be suing Highways England as it is a 100% breach of the Data Protection Act. Now we can publish it, as they have published it to the web willingly and openly, so we do so as well, to show you what a bunch of muppets these people are.

The Award letter when clicked is a pdf. What was supposed to have been redacted appears on the right hand side of the page.

  1. Outstanding bit of redacting by Highways England.

I give it a 5/10 on the SDC Peter Principle benchmark.

  2. Whoops! appears to be a relevant comment.

  3. Whoops, Highways England are definitely a bunch of Muppets.
Personally it would be good if they left Stanford alone or they may make themselves Major Muppets.
