A Grand Crime Solved!

The unsolved mystery of who brutally assaulted Michael Stainer at the Grand in late January 2018 was solved in Canterbury Crown Court on Monday December 2nd. 36-year-old, Roy Scott (pictured below) pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm and burglary via video link from HM Prison Elmley where he is currently serving three years and eight months for burglary.

Reports at the time linked him to a series of burglaries in Medway the area between August and December last year. He will be sentenced in January.

In a series of civil cases after the assault, both Mr and Mrs Stainer claimed that Scott had been in court in January 2018 along with other Grand residents when the Property Tribunal found the Stainers liable for arrears of service charges. This claim has never been substantiated and Kent Police never followed this up.

Scott was not the most skilled of criminals, judging from the way CCTV captured him at the time of the assault or his leaving a sock behind at the time of the earlier offence.
