Cllr Monk’s Private Fishing Lake Reaches Private Eye Magazine Courtesy of The Shepwayvox Team
Once again the Shepwayvox Team have manged to reach the coveted pages of this week’s Private Eye Magazine (No 1527, 31 July – 13 Aug 2020 page 21). This time regarding the purchase of the racecourse and Cllr Monk fishing on his own private lake.

It is not the first time Cllr Monk has ended up on the Rotten Borough pages of Private Eye Magazine. In Oct 2018, they ran the story Lodge Dodge which was about Mr Monk’s friendship with Mr Westgarth, who wanted to develop Litttle Densole Farm witha fishing lake and chalets. It ended up in court and the applicant Tim Steer won his Judicial Review.

Since he (and his friends) are deriving a personal benefit by using an asset owned by the local authority of which he is leader should he not be asked to pay a fee for his usage? After all, local council tax payers are presumably not allowed to use the lake for fishing or any other form of recreation. If they are, he can enlighten us.
