Council award £2.5 million pound contract to BAM Construction to begin development of Princes Parade Liesure Centre

On the 13th Nov 2019, the Princes Parade Business Plan went before Folkestone & Hythe District Council’s Cabinet. The Business Plan was set out in Report Number C/18/69 and explicitly in the Princes Parade business case prepared by The Sports Consultancy.
To appoint a contractor to undertake
1. Site remediation, including site clearance and levelling works.
2. New wet and dry side Lesiure Centre.
3. New road and car parking.
4. Utility services – new and relocated.
5. New promenade.
The residential elements and the new public realm areas to the west and centre of the Princes Parade development does not form part of the works to be carried out by the appointed contractor.
Folkestone & Hythe District Council used a two-stage procedure, to appoint a contractor to undertake the works above. A two stage procedure means
Stage One – select suppliers,
Stage Two chosen suppliers invited to tender for work.
The contract start date was 15 February 2021 and the Contract end date is the 12 August 2022.
Despite all the best efforts of the Save Princes Parade Group, the Shepway Green Party and a failed Judicial Review, the development of Princes Parade is set to go ahead.
