Thanks to a local Folkestone resident posting on Facebook last Saturday, we learnt that legal action had been taken to prevent people who’d bought stuff at the Grand online auction from collecting it earlier this week.
According to enquiries we then made at Canterbury County Court, and by checking the County court listings, we discovered that Michael Stainer was seeking an injunction against the appointed administrators, Begbies Traynor. They had been appointed in December 2020 after the Grand’s owners, Hallam Estates Ltd, went into administration. It can be assumed that this injunction was also intended to delay the June 22nd auction of the freehold of The Grand.
The case was before District Judge Rahman who has met Mr Stainer on previous occasions – and, yet again, dismissed the application with costs. We understand this is the third time, an application from Mr Stainer has been thrown out with costs by DJ Rahman.
Now all one needs ask is how Mikey is going to pay the costs and from where the money might come. We’re quite sure Begbies Traynor will be undertaking all the necessary checks on the origins of the money.
