Tory Cllr Susan Carey lies and spreads misinformation as fact about Council Tax

Ever since we, The Shepway Vox TEAM, first informed you that residents of Folkestone & Hythe District Council have had the highest council tax in Kent since 2004/05, many of you have asked why is this so. We really don’t know.
But last night at full council in the General Fund Budget and Council Tax 2022/23 debate, Cllr Jim Martin (Green) reiterated a fact that we DO have the highest council tax in Kent, and we can confirm now it will be for the nineteenth year in a row.
However, Cllr Susan Carey (Con), who is both a district and KCC Cllr denied that residents have the highest council tax of any district in Kent. In true Trumpian style she deliberately and knowingly misled the chamber, spreading disinformation, and was not even rebuked for her lie. This only goes to show standards are truly slipping in our council chamber, when a Cllr can so easily stand up and lie to fellow Cllrs and residents, without the Monitoring Officer, Amandeep Khroud, doing anything.
So, here is the evidence, produced by KCC that we DO have the highest council tax of any district in Kent. And in March the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, will confirm it as well.
Now given the Council Tax increase proposed by the Tory led council was voted through, it means we the residents of Folkestone & Hythe WILL HAVE the highest council tax of any district in Kent for the nineteenth year in a row. And that is a fact, even if Cllr Susan Carey wishes to bury her head in the sand and spread misinformation/disinformation and/or lies.
