Do you want £50 quid of your council tax? Here’s how to do it.

What with a cost of living crisis unfolding before our very eyes; which will get worse in 2023, how would you like a one of £50 reduction on your council tax in the financial year 2023/24?

If that’s a resounding yes from you, it would mean Folkestone & Hythe District Council wouldn’t have the highest council tax of any council in Kent for the twentieth year in a row.

This is really doable, if the political will is there. There is a precedent and that precedent was set by Tory led Harlow Council, whose residents welcomed the reduction.

Our public face has sent an email to Cllr Tim Prater (Lib Dem), Cllr Lesley Whybrow (Green) and Cllr Connor McConville, each of who are the leaders of their respective parties in the council chamber setting out how this could be done. The rest is up to them.

Our Council have more than enough rainy day reserves, and could use the new homes bonus to assist in such a reduction.

So if you want this to happen to help you reduce your overheads through this Tory created economic  storm front which has now crossed the horizon and predicted to last until at least 2024/25, the way to ensure it does is email the councillors above.

If the Tories, propped up by Wimble’s alleged independent party, said no to such a motion brought, then they could truly be painted as the nasty party, not just at national level, but also at local level too.

So, if this matters to you then get busy emailing your councillors, as they’ve no excuse to say this is not doable.
