Sir Roger De Haan & Lady Alison De Haan increase their donations to Tory Party by a further £50,000
On the 30 June 2021, we reported on the
At that time we reported:
Sir Roger and his wife, Lady Alison De Haan (pictured), had donated £256,000 to the national Conservative Party and the local Folkestone & Hythe Conservative party.
Donations to political parties are perfectly legitimate. This is how British Politics work, which is made clear by Bobby Friedman in Democracy Ltd. He says:
-
There is an understanding (rarely made explicit) that donations buy political access and favourable consideration in policy development and legislation. Why else would companies, which are bound by law to pursue profits, make these donations?
-
The payment of donations to political parties are legal and legitimate we stress.
Prior to the 30 June 2021, we had reported Sir Roger & Lady Alison had donated £256,000 between them
We can now reveal that in April 2021, both Sir Roger & Lady Alison donated a further £25,000 each to the Central Tory Party. They donated their £25,000, on the 6 April 2021, prior to the Public Consultations about further development on the Folkestone Seafront.
The donations were first reported by the electoral comission on the 28/07/21, and then published to the world on the 31/08/21, so after the consultation dates of Friday 23rd July at 4pm – 8pm and Saturday 24th July at 10am — 3pm.
This further donation of £25,000 each, brings their total donations to the Tory party to £306,000.

The Seafront development has caused considerable controversy within Folkestone & beyond, with some hating it, and others loving it. And let’s not forget Private Eye wade in as well.

The plans for the Harbour part of the Seafront Development have not been made available yet.
We will hold our tongue on saying anything further regarding the donations to the Tories by Sir Roger & Lady Alison De Haan; which are legal and legitimate.
However, you have the right to make up your own mind if “donations buy political access and favourable consideration”.

Dissent is NOT a Crime

More evidence, as the tory gravy train heads for the buffers, complete with stale champagne and dirty chandeliers!
No surprises interest in voting is dying when advantage can be purchased.
….. and of course the labour/ liberal/green gravy trains don’t give any advantage or favours to those who donate.
