SDC’s Economic Development Website
“Shepway District Council’s Economic Development Team is seeking to appoint a software website development agency to develop an Economic Development (ED) Website that will ‘go live’ by the end of October 2015. Suppliers may express an interest up until 23:59 on 05/08/2015 and may respond up until midday on 10/08/2015. Any and all queries relating to this procurement should be directed via the discussions forum within this portal.”
See: Contracts Finder The developer of this website is Red Bullet, but it is not clear which one as there are 2 companies based in the same location in Canterbury. See: Red Bullet no 2 and 3 on the list.
The value of the contract is 17,200 and runs from the 24/08/15 and 23/08/16.
The website is meant to be live by the end of October we are now just 3 days away from the deadline. SDC are moving into the market to expand their revenue stream because Central Govt have elected to reduce the debt and run a surplus by 2020. Therefore Councils have through necessity had to be more creative in generating revenue streams.
Oportunitas Ltd is a company which SDC intends to generate revenue through from market rents via the purchasing of property. Perhaps the website will help them fill their properties such as No 15, Grace Hill.
As the council have a debt of 62.5 million and reserves of 48 million according to an FOI earlier this year, that still leaves a size-able debt. Hence SDC’s logic to expand their revenue streams.
With a 62.5 million pound debt, do you the citizens of Shepway feel safe that SDC can manage successfully both the website and Oportunitas Ltd without incuring us all further debt?
We wish them well
