Council “actively considering” purchasing Aldi Site, Hythe.

EXCLUSIVE:

The Shepwayvox Team can confirm that Folkestone & Hythe District Council are “actively considering” purchasing the Aldi site in Hythe. A variety of sources have confirmed, including two Cabinet Members, who attended the informal Cabinet meeting held at the Civic Centre on Tuesday 9th Oct.

Cllr Malcolm Dearden (Con) (pictured below) mooted the idea the site could become a purpose built site for a new council office, as the current Civic Centre becomes less and less viable, both economically and environmentally.

It is understood that the site will NOT officially go live for sale until next week, thus giving the Council time to consider their decision regarding any purchase and make an offer. We understand the price will be in the £2 million pound region.

The Shepwayvox Team make it clear Cllr Dearden simply mooted the idea of the site. We are not at present saying it will become the new district civic centre, because first they’d have to purchase the site.
