First we must congratulate Cllr Rory Cassian Love for his award of an OBE. He was first elected in 1987 and stood in the Folkestone Harvey Ward. He came third in the vote receiving 1001 votes. He has served the district as a Cllr for nearly 32 years. He is the longest serving Cllr, who currently sits on our Council. When he first stood he looked like this:
This year as you know the Folkestone Seafront Development will finally go ahead after receiving planning permission to proceed. Sir Roger De Haan – a “reluctant developer” will finally see his dream come true after a number of false starts.
Also lets just hope Philip Rodney Carter, former leader of Shepway DC and mayor of Folkestone and former part owner of the Executive Club doesn’t extract any electricity again unlawfully and get arrested for it.
Also lets just hope these are not headlines we get to read in our local newspapers this year.
Finally – Folkestone & Hythe District is mentioned at page 11 of Why We Get the Wrong Politicians (Isabel Hardman) it states:
At a Tory selection for Folkestone & Hythe, a remarkable number of candidates applied who claimed to have been conceived in the constituency.
It is not known if Damian Collins MP was one of them. Anything you’d like to tell us Damian?
Happy New Year to All
