However, that is not what a growing number of people of another race, disability, sexual orientation, religion or transgender are experiencing in their everyday day lives, as the latest figures for Hate Crime across Kent reveal.

Hate Crime is on the rise in Kent and between 2014/15 & 2018/19 it’s risen by a staggering 354%, according to figures released by the Home Office.

The most common hate crime in Kent is still a crime against race according to Kent Police. In the 21st Century we find this quite staggering as it is shows racial prejudice after so many years of public education, workplace education, hasn’t managed to eradicate or reduce this narrow minded prejudice held by a growing number. It may sound trite but Love not hate, is all you need

And the district in Kent where the most hate crime has been recorded is Medway. All the districts in Kent need is love

Figures for 2018/19 show there was a total of 361 hate crime prosecutions in the county, compared to 346 in 2017/18.

In 303 of the cases a conviction was secured, which equates to 83.9%.

Within Kent, Surrey and Sussex, almost nine in ten hate crime prosecutions result in convictions.

Kent Police offers an online hate crime reporting service through their website. In addition, anyone who experiences or witnesses hate crime can report it using the True Vision website.
