Kent MP’s Expenses for 2018/19

The most expensive MP in Kent for the financial year 2018/19 was Rosie Duffield (Lab). Miss Duffield comes in first claiming a whopping £211,887.63. Nationally Rosie was 71st out of 660 MP’s

In second place was Charlie Elphicke claiming £200,117.09 for his Dover seat. Nationally he was 171st. In bronze medal position was Sir Roger Gale MP for North Thanet claiming £186,377.88 and came in at 307th position amongst all MP’s.

The figures for MP’s expenses was delayed due to a General Election being called.

    In a way, being 71st most expensive doesnt sound too bad, but when you consider how close Rosie D’s constituency is to London, it really seems like a bad record I am afraid. None of the Kent mps should be in the top half of expense claimers, I would have thought.

    I agree a breakdown of expenditure would be very helpful. This would show how much was being spent on e.g. office and staff costs in order to provide support and advice to constituents. Also, are these expenses subject to independent audit to ensure that taxpayers are not being ripped off?
