Fernfield Lane is owned by FHDC and this has been the case since 1972. In December 2018, Folkestone & Hythe District Council (FHDC) was granted outline planning permission for 19 houses at its development site at Fernfield Lane, Hawkinge by Dover District Council (DOV/16/01450). The 2.1 hectare (5.12 acre) site is located on the edge of a residential area to the north-east of Hawkinge. The outline planning permission sets a requirement for 30% affordable housing. Six of the plots are allocated as shared ownership housing with the remainder assumed to be self-build. In April 2019, the Site was valued by the property consultancy Savills and the recommendation from officers is that best value is sought through disposal.
Owned by FHDC and will go up for sale with planning permission soon.
The report is seeking approval for the disposal of the whole of the site, recommending that marketing of the site commences at the start of 2020 aiming to obtain capital receipts in the 2020/21 financial year.
Now at one minute twenty three seconds of the video below, Cllr Davison (Lab) asks if they are going to be given copies of the information referred to by the Corporate Director Andy Blaszkowicz – responsible for Housing & Operations. This information is on pink papers. The pink paper is handed out for Cllrs to read.
Now at the end of the meeting both a Council Officer and Dr Susan Priest made sure that all copies of the pink papers did not disappear as they contained commercially sensitive information. We counted them all out and we counted them all back.
So regarding the Pink Papers at last nights Overview & Scrutiny Committee; which we have blurred for obvious reasons, if a Cllr wants to tell you anything about what was on them, do take notes and drop us a line at shepwayvox[at]riseup[dot]net.
We look after all our sources.
As for our Cllrs it’s clear they are all on the naughty step – how long for is not known. A breakdown in trust between Cllrs and officers, does not bode well for both parties, as neither party can keep their big mouths shut.

No doubt the requirement for affordable housing put FH&DC off. A bit too close to Densole. 😁
In the circumstances they are right to take these precautions.
