Abuse of EKHUFT staff by members of the public continues during pandemic

On April 3rd 2020, we made it clear that East Kent Hospital University Staff had been physically attacked and verbally abused by members of the public during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Now new data shows that throughout the pandemic there has been no let up of physical attacks and verbal abuse on medical and non-medical members of EKHUFT staff by members of the public at the three primary hospitals, which serve the East Kent population of approx 695,000 people.

Of course due to the covid-19 restrictions put in place to prevent as many people attending the three hospitals during the pandemic, the number of physical attacks and verbal abuse suffered by EKHUFT staff has fallen. But any attack on any member of EKHUFT staff in the middle of a pandemic is despicable in our opinion.

All NHS staff who work for EKHUFT or in the NHS across the country deserve to work in a safe, caring and compassionate environment.

All EKHUFT staff deserve our respect given the current national emergency. They also deserve a working environment that supports their physical and mental health, and helps them be the very best they can be given the current conditions they are working under.

So come on people treating EKHUFT staff with respect in these unprecedented times is so neccesary, and god knows they deserve our respect right now.
