Kent MPs make highest ever expenses claims during Covid – 2020/21

In 2020/21 all 17 Kent MPs between them billed for expenses such as office costs, staffing, accommodation, and travel, just over £3 million pounds. This does not include their salary, which in 2020/21, was £81,934.

While many were losing there jobs, or put on furlough, the NHS not getting PPE, and thousands dying, due to Covid, including NHS staff, and partygate got into full swing at No.10, Kent MPs were claiming more than ever before in expenses.

Let’s not forget the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) awarded MPs an extra £10,000 in expenses, to work from home during the coronavirus crisis.

For the year 2020/21, Conservative MP, Damian Collins, Folkestone & Hythe Constituency, claimed £234,459.26, in expenses. Damian is Gold medal position.

Taking Silver was Labour MP Rosie Duffield, Canterbury, who claimed £232,539.44

And taking the Bronze Medal was Conservative MP Tom Tugendhat, Tonbridge & Malling, who claimed £228,358.87

  1. Our combined income since January 2020 has been £0, Zero, zilch, nothing, not a penny.

  2. For the benefit of readers you may want to provide a breakdown of their expenses or a link to the relevant website. I would like to know why Damian Collins is claiming so much. You should offer him an opportunity to explain on the Shepway Vox site.
