Princes Parade: Stopping Up Order Documents released by Planning Inspector & Secretary of State
So the campaign to prevent the stopping up order of the road which will run behind the land at Princes Parade, led by KCC Cllrs Rory Love OBE and Andy Weatherhead was unsuccessful.
Princes Parade is where Folkestone & Hythe District Council will build 150 homes, a boutique hotel and a Leisure Centre.
Campaigners – the Save Princes Parade (SPP) and others have fought a valiant battle with the council to prevent building on the land since 2003.
In Sept 2019, the SPP launched a Judicial Review (JR). However, the JR brought by the SPP, was unsuccessful, with Justice Dove at the High Court handing down his decision on the 22/06/20.
Now with the latest decision handed down by the Secretary of State, regarding the Stopping Up Order, the SPP might have run out of road for grounds for challenging the order.
For the sake of “the public interest”, and for transparency, we publish the documents relevant to the order to get eyes on them, to see if there might be grounds to launch another JR.

We contacted Cllr Rory Love OBE (Con) for a comment, who gave us the following quote:
“This is clearly disappointing news for residents in Sandgate, Seabrook, Hythe, and beyond. I did my best to give residents a chance to have their say, and I’m pleased that I had the opportunity to speak up for those who feel aggrieved by this inappropriate development proposal at the public inquiry that I secured with my colleague, Cllr Andy Weatherhead.“
There may well be grounds for another JR. We hope that SPP with their lawyers might find grounds to bring a case. As they say, “it ain’t over till the fat lady sings.“

Dissent is ESSENTIAL in a Democracy
Well that was a waste of time, hopefully we can now get started on providing the area with a much require asset from one that is under used!
