Parish & Town Cllr Russell Douglas Tillson (72) appeared at Sevenoaks Magistrates court today – Tuesday 22.03.22, and was charged with – 5 counts of historical sexual abuse which relate to reported incidents involving boys in Tonbridge between 1984 and 2001.
Cllr Tillson pleaded not guilty to all five charges of indecent assault, and refused to provide a comment outside court. He was released from court on unconditional bail, to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on April 19.
Cllr Tillson was elected to the District Council between 2007 & 2015, and then between 2017 & 2019.
In 2007 & 2008, Cllr Tillson was nominated and accepted to be a school governor at Dymchurch Primary School, according to KCC Documents. He was nominated by the Conservatives.
He also worked at Epsom College between 1974 and 1980, Tonbridge, 1981 onwards, until he moved on to St Benidict’s Ealing, in 2002 and was a Dymchurch School Governor in 2007 & 2008.
As we understand, the local Folkestone & Hythe Conservative Association will suspend Cllr Tillson, this evening.
We will engage with both New Romney Town Council & St Mary’s in the Marsh Parish Council, to comment on what course of action they intend to take, if any.
