Folkestone Harbour Planning Application 24/0505/FH to be heard on 21 January 2025

The controversial Folkestone Harbour Planning Application 24/0505/FH will go before the planning committee on the 21 January 2025, at 7pm, in the Council chamber. The Council  report makes clear this reserved matters application be approved subject to the conditions set out at the end of the report

The decision to be made by the planning committee will be to consider the approval of reserved matters (layout, access, scale, appearance, and landscaping) of Phases 5 and Phase 6 comprising Plots F1, F2, G1, G2, and H.

Outline Planning permission for the whole site, as pictured above, under application Y12/0897/SH was granted with conditions on the 30 Jan 2015. A Section 73 application (Y17/1099/FH) was granted which amended the original outline permission (ref: Y12/0897/SH) and it is this permission that has been implemented. This application Y17/1099/FH, increased the heights of the buildings among other things.

There have been 718 objections to the application, 52 in support of the application and 6 which neither support or object. as of the 13 January 2025.

The outline planning  is due to lapse on the 29 Jan 2025, so the applicant is cutting it rather fine for this project, down by the waterline in Folkestone.

6 Comments on Folkestone Harbour Planning Application 24/0505/FH to be heard on 21 January 2025

  1. Let’s hope the Folkestone Harbour development company gets on and build this Great Vision Of Folkestone as soon As possible

  2. Indeed Paul! The Vision of Our Great Laird must be fulfilled. It is the town’s Manifest Destiny! The seagulls cry His Name! Like Mao damming the Yangtze, Moses parting the Red Sea, err, something… Today the Leas Pavilion, tomorrow the Mighty Shoreline, a siren whistles and commands this New World into being . More disused retail! More abandoned luxury flats! More! More! Now!

  3. “This is an absolute eyesore! If the so-called ‘latest vision’ isn’t enough, let’s just pile on more nonsense! It’s like a cheap imitation of London. Why not focus on revitalizing the once-thriving town instead? Oh wait, we all know who’s cashing in on this disaster. The seafront used to be a vibrant hub of fun, not a monument to poor decisions!”

  4. As someone.who was born and brought up in Folkestone. I hope these hideous buildings never get built. The only people who would want them are most likely DFLs, who miss London and are trying to create mini London by Sea, and destroying our once beautiful harbour area.

I hope they never get built either but plenty of people who moved here from London don’t want them either! I was trying to get away from the place haha… Some DFLs are assuredly plonkers but after a few years here I promise there’s more than a fair few who’d stand with you and not against.

Our Great Laird is seeking something worse yet than those priced out of our childhood areas around London. The price of these is only for impressively fat wallets, not mine. As MB writes above, let’s try and get it back to a place of fun rather than this grim socially cleansed future.

  5. This is by far the the most offensive idea for Folkestone just to massage one megalomaniacs ego they haven’t even sold all of the apartments at his other eyesore. Is this a corrupt council bowing to the future ruler of Folkestone
