Error or Oversight? Shepwayvox Name Appears in Otterpool Park Files, Raising Eyebrows
Shepwayvox questions “mistaken” inclusion in Otterpool Park files, raising broader doubts about accuracy.
Shepway Vox, a local community blog, has raised concerns after its name appeared unexpectedly on Folkestone & Hythe District Council’s website alongside documents related to the controversial Otterpool Park development. The incident has prompted questions about the accuracy of public records and whether other errors may exist in the Council’s IT system.

In a formal communication to the Council, the Shepwayvox TEAM noted that while they were “flattered” by the mention, the association was clearly a mistake. The blog, which covers local issues and planning matters, has no formal connection to the Otterpool Park project.
“It is surprising to find our name listed alongside these documents,” the team stated. “We can only assume this was an IT or administrative error—but it does make one wonder what other inaccuracies might be present.”

The inclusion of Shepwayvox in the Council’s official records has sparked skepticism among local observers, particularly given the contentious nature of the Otterpool Park development. Critics have long questioned transparency in the planning process, and this latest anomaly has added fuel to those concerns.
Calls for Greater Scrutiny
Local transparency advocates argue that such mistakes—however unintentional—undermine public trust.
“Residents deserve clear, accurate information, especially on major projects like Otterpool Park,” said Clive, a resident who opposes the Otterpool Project. “If a blog can be wrongly linked to official documents, what else might be misrepresented?”
The Shepwayvox TEAM has requested an immediate correction but has also urged a broader review of the website’s content to prevent further misattributions.
As the development continues to draw debate, this incident serves as a reminder of the importance of meticulous record-keeping—and the scrutiny that follows when errors slip through;which appear to happen all to often at Folkestone& Hythe District Council.

Dissent is NOT a Crime

Question for Vox . Can you tell us which Councils have ever made a profit from a development that they thought they had the knowledge and experience to undertake with the use of Tax Payers money ?
None that we are aware of. If any do exists, they’d be few and far between.
