A High Degree of Support

We have to admit that we at Shepwayvox are a little confused. There is a lot of information flying about regarding the lorry park at site 1 owned by David Thomas Holt in Stanford.

An SDC document appears to claim that at a Stanford Parish Council meeting  “There was a high degree of support for the expansion to the west of STOP 24 for additional lorry parking capacity. And Option 3 [see below] appears to be supported by the Parish Council which includes a site off junction 11a for emergencies and TAP with 3,000 space capacity, with an additional 1,000 space parking capacity at STOP 24. The Parish Council will promote this option to HE.”

It would appear that all parties who have voiced their opinion on this matter, and they are considerable:

TOWN COUNCILS: Folkestone and Hythe

PARISH COUNCILS: Stanford, Stowting, Sellindge and Postling

Kent County Council, Dover District Council, Ashford Borough Council, Shepway District Council

SHEPWAY BUSINESS ADVISORY BOARD, The Road Haulage Association, The Freight Haulage Association, Dover Harbour Board, Eurotunnel, Kent Police and Kent Fire and Rescue and the The Kent Downs AONB Executive Committee.

All appear to be in favour of Site 1 and option 3. What is option 3?

Option 3 is  the use of the site to operate as an emergency lorry holding area (with free provision for Operation Stack and Dover TAP / Eurotunnel excess traffic) but with additional chargeable basic overnight parking all year round.

This will be discussed by SDC Cabinet on Tuesday, 19th January, 2016 4.00 pm and the information we refer to can can be found in this document here → Supplementary information

  1. the reason it looks this way is because the only option given were choose this bad option or this bad option they did not give the councils an option to say NO lorry park

AFAIK no one in Stanford and Sellindge has said they want either? Again a rep from the council said he attended the meeting at Sellindge and the Sellindge people want option 3, I was at that meeting, no one said such a thing, misinformation is being used against the residents of both Stanford and Sellindge.
