Otterpool Park update

It is now known that the Otterpool Park Masterplan will come before Cabinet on March 28th for their approval. Furthermore, between May & July 2018 Consultations, including website promotion, schools and businesses, together with a public exhibition paying particular attention to promoting health and community aspects of the site will be held.

In July 2018  – a presentation to explain the process of submitting the masterplan will be held. The location and date/s is unknown.

The masterplan boundary has been extended to enable a lower density garden town of approximately 10,000 homes; meaning Otterpool Park has shrunk from “up to 12,000 homes” to approximately 10,000 homes. This would make Otterpool a Garden Village and NOT a Garden Town according to the Govt’s criteria (see page 5 paragraph 8 and page 7 and paragraph 13.) More extensive Green buffers have been included to give more protection to the village of Lympne  and residents of Barrow Hill – some of who met with SDC on the 9th Jan 2018, at the Civic Centre.

The Otterpool Park High Street has been repositioned to better relate to Westenhanger Station, the transport interchange, the business park and town park . The A20 is realigned to relieve pressure on the Newingreen junction and to improve north south movements.
