According to Folkestone & Hythe District Council the number of empty properties in the district has fallen from 468 as of the 1st Oct 2018 to 293 as of the 29th March 2019. This we find truly unbelievable. This would mean that 175 empty homes have been brought back into use in six months. That is an astonishing figure, but one which we honestly believe cannot be true.
The interactive graph shows no such drop has ever been achieved between 2004 to present.
In an FoI reponse to a member of the public, via WhatDoTheyKnow, the Council have stated that the number of long term empty properties has fallen to its lowest ever. A drop of 175 would be astounding, if it were to be true.
We believe the data published by the Council has to be treated with caution and scepticism, as it is truly unbelievable.
