Will there be a by-election in Harbour Ward?
The Closet Tory – Cllr Ray Field (Ind) elected with 359 votes for the Harbour Ward in May 2019, has in the past been a vociferous voice in calling on Cllrs who have left their party either voluntarily or by political pressure to stand for re-election.
Almost a year ago to the day Cllr Ray Field posted the following message on Facebook. So we ask if Cllr Field will step down and have a by-election? Is the man principled or not?
So will Cllr Field step down from his Harbour Ward seat and create a by-election? We personally believe not as he is a hypocrite. Plus there are £10,866 reasons to cling onto now he’s a member of the Cabinet.
Cllr Field physically attacked our public face in May 2019, in front of many witnesses – one of them was Cllr Jacqui Meade (Lab) and she did nothing to help. She did NOT report Field to the Local Labour Party.
A formal complaint was lodged with Folkestone & Hythe District Council against Cllr Field’s violent behaviour towards our public face. A valid crime reference number was supplied, as was the date, the location and the time, plus a list of persons present, who were and still are willing to talk to the Council’s monitoring officer Amandeep Khroud (pictured). However, she has chosen not to respond to a valid complaint. It is now with the Local Government Ombudsman
Then again at the Woodward Hall in Oct 2019, Cllr Field attacked our public face in front of twenty-five witnesses; and none of the six Labour Cllrs present did anything. He remained in the party.
This is the local Labour Party who profess to have suspended Cllr Field – because he voted with the Tories on Princes Parade – Yet took no action was taken against Cllr Field when he physically and verbally assaulted an innocent member of the public in front of so many witnesses.
Cllr Field is we honestly believe a closet Tory. We honestly believe he is a violent, uncontrollable thug who some believe is as anti-semitic as senior members of the Third Reich, given the way he personally treated former Cllr Claire Jeffrey when she crossed the floor to the Conservatives in Sept 2016.
Cllr Field says he was asked to join the Cabinet for his “negotiation skills“, amongst other things. There are people in Medway who remember Cllr Field’s “negotiation skills” all too vividly.
Cllr Field’s hypocrisy and thuggery demonstrates he is the right man to join the Tory led Cabinet.
Let’s not forget the Council have buried a legitimate complaint, the local Labour Party have done nothing about Cllr Field’s violent and aggressive behaviour. Both should account for their actions, but we doubt they’ll be little of that.

As a senior member of Unite, you may want to know Field took a substantial amount of Union Funds for his personal gain.
As one of Field’s former female partners, I didn’t get a penny in Child Support from him. Not a principled man. He was a bully as well.

We have long known that Cllr Field is an anti-semite, yet those in the higher echelons of the local Labour party believed they could control Field. The reality is and has been we could not.
He is a bully as he waited until after a meeting and I was on my own before he physically pushed me up against a wall and threatened me with violence. I complained and it went nowhere.
Ray also recently annoyed the police by having ago at them in public at one of their organised community events. I let them know that, he did the same to you in October, and I felt the need to defend your public face and tried to reason with Ray. Understandably they were not amused.
I also observed that Ray also wasn’t sitting with the other councillors…. nor did he interact with them at another recent local event at the museum….
Doubt he’ll stick around much longer…
I was one of those six Cllrs at the Woodward Hall in Oct and I apologise to your public face for standing by and not standing up for him. I never made a complaint when I know I should have.
As for Cllr Field the party threw him out once and then allowed him back in. That was a mistake. I sincerely hope we do not make it again.
Having witnessed Field’s negotiation skills at the Community Engagement Event held at the Pavilion in Sandgate, he really doesn’t know how to win friends and influence people. His aggressive behaviour towards to the Police was utterly disgusting.
I made a mistake voting Labour locally, it will not happen again
Field does not have a political bone in his body, remember that just a few years ago he stood in elections for TUSC having been kicked out of Labour. It’s all about him and how much money he can con out of people. He is a chancer, a con man and a misogynistic anti Semitic bully as his vile behaviour has proved time and time again. How he got away with attacking your public face just shows the level of corruption and cover ups at F&H DC
The Labour Party have now suspended field at a local and national level. Let’s not let this one bad apple rot the hole cart. There are 5 labour councillors left who work hard to bring about change.
Not actually sure what Field did in the grand scheme of things except get in to bed with David Monk.
Monks plan all along was to break the alliance and he did this by offering cabinet posts . Field was told no by the NEC but chose to go his own way a prostitute himself cabinet silver.
Unite the union should kick him out but they won’t
Presumably David Monk will only allow Field to remain a Cabinet member if he does what he is told and votes accordingly. At some point (presumably after the next local elections) Field will find his services as a Cabinet member are no longer required and he will be dispatched to the political wilderness.
When will he offer the voters of Harbour Ward the chance to judge him or, will he slink out of the back door before re-election beckons? If he chooses not to face re-election his behaviour betokens both a fear and contempt for those who elected him.
I suspect the local Labour Party just want him to disappear and spare them from any further embarrassment.
You would of thought the Green and Lib Dem Cabinet members would have protested his inclusion to the Cabinet or at least resigned. Looks like £10,866 does a lot!
