Local Tories knew Cllr Weatherhead was former member of Fascist Group before Hope Not Hate story broke

Back in February 2022, we updated a post called

Update – It has come to our attention that Andrew Beadle (now Weatherhead) was a senior officer in early 2013 for the openly fascist New British Union (NBU) – a revival group of Oswald Mosley’s British Union of Fascists. We understand he left the NBU is 2014.

At that time nobody took a blind bit of notice, regarding Cllr Weatherhead’s involvement in the NBU. Nine months on it has become a local and national story.

Then in an exchange of texts with a member of the local Folkestone & Hythe Conservative Association on Sat 19 Nov, our public face of The Shepway Vox Team asked the following and got the response below.

It’s is clear the local Conservative association knew about Weatherhead’s association with the NBU, and chose to take no action prior to the story becoming a local and national issue.

The facts were available to all, yet the local Tories choose to ignore them.

Dylan Jeffrey (pictured), the Kent Conservative party whip,Dylan, said Weatherhead joined the party in 2018 and had been subject to background checks that did not reveal his previous associations with the NBU.

This is strange given that Cllr Weatherhead disclosed his NBU membership to the local Tories after joining them. Strange indeed.

Cllr Weatherhead has been suspended by the Tories, and now stands as an independent Cllr for Hythe West. However, that said, Cllr Weatherhead still shows as a KCC Conservative Cllr on Folkestone & Hythe District Council’s website as of this morning 21/11/2022.
