Your comment about asset sales being the equivalent of selling the family silver is slightly misleading. Optimal capital allocation is a perfectly reasonable thing to do if you are selling under used or surplus assets and using proceeds to invest in new assets, that way you decide you no longer require the fish knives and forks but you do need BBQ equpment!
