Is Cllr David Wimble committing fraud?

According to the vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk Folkestone & Hythe District Council Cllr David Wimble, Cabinet Member for the District Economy (pictured) who represents New Romney Ward owns a Blue Mercedes – number plate W100BLE. This car currently has no Tax, since 1st May 2019, and no valid MOT, since the 23rd March 2019. This means any insurance is invalid. As of 10pm on the 18th July this was definitively the case as the the image below shows.

It is not the first time Cllr Wimble has driven a car he owns with no Tax or Mot. No the first time was in Feb 2017.

On the day of the local election count – 2nd May 2019 – Cllr Wimble drove to Three Hills Sports Centre without any tax on his car and no valid MOT, then drove home. Since May 2nd, he has potentially claimed for attending meetings in his car which was not allowed on the road by law. To have claimed any monies would be tantamount to fraud by Cllr Wimble, according to legal advice we have received. The Monitoring Officer Amandeep Khroud – who appears to monitor very little – needs to check to see if Cllr Wimble has claimed for mileage.  If so the funds need to be reclaimed and Cllr Wimble reported immediately to Kent Police.

“Under s143 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 it is an offence to use (or permit to be used) a motor vehicle on a road or other public place when there is not in force in relation to the use of the vehicle such a policy of insurance in respect of third party risks as complies with the Road Traffic Act.

Section 47 (1) of the Road Traffic Act 1988 states that it is an offence for anyone to drive, or allow or cause to be driven, a vehicle which requires, but does not have, a valid Ministry of Transport test certificate.

By law, it’s an offence to drive a vehicle on a public road in the UK without road tax“

It is clear Cllr Wimble is not fit for office and should be immediately suspended and reported to Kent Police. Not only is he a fantasist, he is a menace on the road and potentially committing fraud to boot. If the man had a ounce of decency he would step down immediately. That said we are sure Cllr Wimble will tell more lies and may well even tell us that the website – vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk has got it wrong. It has not.
